Memorandum of Understanding between Türkiye and Algeria in the Field of Halal Accreditation was Signed
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Republic of Türkiye and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria for developing cooperation in the field of halal accreditation was signed on 16 May 2022 in the ceremony hosted by H.E. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, President of Türkiye, within the context of official visit of H.E. Abdelmadjid TEBBOUNE, President of Algeria.
With the MoU which was signed on behalf of Türkiye by H.E. Dr. Mehmet MUŞ, Minister of Trade, and on behalf of Algeria by H.E. Ahmed ZAGHDAR, Minister of Industry, it is aimed to enhance the cooperation between the Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) and the Algerian Accreditation Body (ALGERAC) through joint activities to be carried out in the fields of trainings and exchange of information and experts.
In order to overcome technical barriers to trade, to strengthen the potential of the trade of halal certified products and services, and to establish a reliable halal certification system operating at the global level, the HAK has been signed MoUs with relevant institutions of Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic so far.
In this context, the MoU signed with Algeria, which is a member of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), will also contribute to the improvement of bilateral relations between our countries in this field as well as to increase cooperation at the international level.
