Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) is accredited by Halal Accreditation Agency of Turkey (HAK) for Certification of Persons Involved in the Halal Related Activities

Halal Accreditation Agency of Turkey (HAK) has authorized the Turkish Standards Institution (TSE) to certify persons who can work as auditors and experts in halal industry.

HAK expanded its scope of halal accreditation for different areas in 2022 by accrediting the organizations that certify auditors and experts who will work in the halal certification market and production sectors.

Accrediting organizations that certify persons, HAK will facilitate the certification of persons according to common competency criteria for those who can work in different stakeholders such as manufacturers, service providers, conformity assessment bodies etc.

In this way, the adoption of common criteria in the professional skills and competencies of the persons that are active in the field of halal related activities will be ensured. Likewise, a sound implementation framework will be established for all parties to benefit from the expertise of these persons.

As such, TSE Department of Personnel Certification has been accredited by HAK to certify persons who will work in halal industry. TSE has been authorized to issue accredited certificates according to the "OIC/SMIIC 34: 2020 General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons Involved in the Halal Related Activities" Standard.

The ceremony held at the Halal Accreditation Agency of Turkey was attended by Prof. Dr. Adem Şahin, President of TSE, Mr. Zafer Soylu Chairman of the BoD of HAK, and Mr. İhsan Övüt Secretary General of SMIIC.

Prof. Şahin, President of TSE, briefed about TSE's certification and other related activities at the ceremony. Prof. Şahin thanked those who contributed to their accreditation process and said, "Our Institution has been officially authorized by HAK to certify persons who will work in the halal field within the scope of the OIC/SMIIC 34: 2020 General Requirements for Bodies Operating Certification of Persons Involved in the Halal Related Activities Standard”.

“TSE became the first organization in the world accredited against OIC/SMIIC FOR personnel certification”

Prof. Şahin continued his words as follows:

“TSE, which has signed cooperation agreements with hundreds of organizations in different countries, has added a new certification area to its field of work with the accreditation certificate received today. Our Institution will be instrumental in reducing the existing barriers in halal trade and revealing the real potential of halal product & service trade through halal accreditation. With the certification and audits of TSE, the products in this field will be healthy, hygienic, and high-quality at every stage, from initial production to final consumer, and awareness in this area will continue to rise.”

HAK Chairman of the Board Zafer Soylu congratulated TSE, the first organization to receive halal accreditation in the field of personnel certification.

Stating that HAK started to receive requests from other institutions in the field of personnel certification, Soylu said, “The activities of TSE are very valuable for us. Hopefully, we will continue our joint work for different fields in the future as well.”

İhsan Övüt, Secretary General of SMIIC, underlined the significance of TSE becoming a part of activities of both SMIIC and HAK in every field.

After the speeches, HAK Chairman of the Board Soylu presented the Halal Accreditation Certificate to TSE President Prof. Şahin.
